Principal's Message T3 W6 2021

Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds

Every family in our community would be aware that this week we celebrated Book Week.If for no other reason than the fact that there would have been some pressure on families to sort out the annual Book Week Costume.

Man, what a week it was, our Junior School went off on Tuesday!Without exception it was the best Book Week Dress Up Day I have ever experienced, and that is saying something because I have been through dozens of them, and some pretty good ones. Our Secondary kids shone as well, absolutely brilliant, the way the big kids get into this fun is so cool.

When I was a kid a Book Week costume consisted of a Kellogg’s Cornflakes box painted some mysterious colour with a bit of crepe paper attached and stuck on your head, or chest, or legs or something. Most of it was very home-made and you had to be almost as creative to decipher what the costume was as you were to come up with the idea in the first place. Now days we are much more sophisticated, you can buy heaps of stuff to help.A stroll through our Facebook page will show you what I am talking about, the quality is so high.Still, our families knock out amazing home-made stuff too, people are so clever. All inspired by books!

Research tells us that children who read, or children who are read to, have so many more positive outcomes in their lives.Wellness improves over a long p

eriod, literacy and academic scores improve, school attendance rises, the list goes on.Books play such an important role in our lives and wellbeing, in our achievement and knowledge.

Of course, there is one Good Book. The Book, The Bible. It has it all.

Old Worlds.A book that tells us of how we used to be, of the old way with its laws and rules and our lack of capacity to make it on our own.

New Worlds.A better way.A life lived as children of The King.Loved and cherished as new creations, made right by the Love of He whose name is Love.

Other Worlds. The sure hope of a resurrection, of the life of a world to come, another place so special, reunited with all the saints before us at that joyous feast in our Father’s House which is to come.
