Parents And Friends Association

The Parents and Friends Association is a support group fostering involvement of parents and friends in the life of the College. It meets on a monthly basis and is active in funding educational resources for the students and promoting activities for parents and friends to participate in during the year.

Our annual FUNFEST (fete) is our major fund raiser for the year and it is held during the month of May each year. It allows the College to reach-out to the community and provide a day for the entire family in a safe environment.

2016 P&FA President Report

What an amazing year the Faith Parents and Friends Association has had. It is an honor to continue to serve the College and the P & FA as its president. I would like to extend a very warm thank you to the P & FA executive, members and volunteers who have tirelessly worked to support our College and children. I am in continued awe of amazing individuals, who donate so much of their precious time towards helping others in our community.

The P & FA started the year with the traditional welcome BBQ. It is always wonderful to see all parts of the College come together to see in the new school year. This year’s event had record numbers and it was a fabulous night of seeing people taking time out of their busy schedule to be a part of the wonderful community that is Faith.

2016 saw the biggest and best Funfest ever! With new attractions, food and lay out, there were many positive comments on how wonderful the day was. We had a wonderful day of perfect weather, good food, a great atmosphere and excellent entertainment. We saw the return of the Pig Races, which was fun for all! It is wonderful to see how excited both children and parents are about Funfest. What amazes me about Funfest are the volunteers. Months of planning, research and development are required to make the event a success. So many parents, staff and students volunteer their time and resources to make this one of the best days in the school year. It is a great day of seeing community spirit being lifted, children having a wonderful time, the modern day-to-day pressures of life being left behind and funds being raised for our amazing College.

This year’s Golf Day was another successful event sponsored by the P&FA. The Redland Bay Golf Club assists us in running the day and teams were comprised of parents and members of the community. There were amazing prizes to be won and the generosity of our sponsors and the general community towards our College was overwhelming.

This year saw the P & FA hold its first Bush Dance. It was a wonderful family night of singing, dancing and joining together. It was wonderful to see parents and children getting into the theme of the night and coming dressed in their best cowboy and cowgirl gear.

FAME, which is a spectacular event, is held at the end of October and it allows the College to showcase the amazing talent of our children. Held in the Centre for Performing Arts, parents are able to mingle and watch the artistic displays, which the students have been working on throughout the year.

The P & FA also provides many other services throughout the year. For example, the Junior School Christmas Stall is organised and run by a team of dedicated volunteers. The College Food Bank sponsored by the P & FA allows us to remember those who may be struggling in our school community and need help from time to time. These activities remind us that Faith is more than just a school, but a wider community who comforts and supports its members.

The P & FA have once again provided over $160,000 to support the College, through the College wish list. These funds have been used to provide our children with up to date and practical resources and facilities for their academic, social and emotional journey, whilst at the College. Examples include new digital IT equipment, sport, and music and science equipment for junior, middle and senior school areas. It is so very rewarding being able to give back to the College and see tangible results of how the funds raised from P&FA events are used in the College.

The P&FA is a group of amazing individuals who come together on a regular basis to help serve the wonderful college our children attend. It is through their support, amazing generosity of time and effort that many events are possible. I would encourage all parents to be a part of the P & FA, where they can and volunteer in any way! If you have any ideas or questions, please feel free to ask.

Finally, on behalf of current and past P & FA members I would like to express our warmest wishes to Principal, Anthony Mueller who will be leaving the College this year. Anthony has provided the P & FA with overwhelming support and guidance. His servant heart, compassion and assistance will be long remembered and we wish him all our very best and God’s love in his future endeavors.
