College Pastor – Pastor Brenton Altmann
With over 20 years of experience as Pastor and teacher in Lutheran Schools, our College Pastor is no stranger to the pastoral care and learning needs of students and staff. More recently, he has been discovering first-hand the joys and challenges of becoming a parent and is enjoying being Dad to his young son. Pastor Brenton’s role within our College includes teaching Christian Studies, coordinating and leading worship for the Senior, Middle and Junior sub-schools, contributing to the Staff Professional Theological Development Program, support person for the Christian Studies Curriculum, pastoral care of staff and students and support person for the school counsellor and the youth worker.
College Counsellor - Sandy Sharp
Sandy Sharp has a Bachelor of Social Science (majoring in Counselling) from Christian Heritage College. She has previously worked in the Health Industry in both hospital and community settings in Queensland and interstate, holding certificates in General Nursing, Midwifery and Child Health plus accreditation in Child Care. Sandy is contracted part time to the College for students and their families from Prep to Year 12. Sandy is also available for individual and family matters plus private consultation.
Counselling aims to promote physical, intellectual, emotional, relational and spiritual well being. The service provided is confidential and professional ethics is maintained. Sandy has always been a volunteer worker actively supporting many Christian and community organisations. She is a member of 'Faith Celebration', married, with three adult children.
College Counsellor - Craig Thomas
An experienced counsellor and a loving dad, Craig is a valued addition to the Ministry team at Faith. Craig has a Masters degree in Counselling. Working mainly at the Middle and Senior school Campus, Craig brings his unique gifts to the Counselling support offered across the College. In partnership with Sandy Sharp, our Counselling team provides care and support for students, families and staff from Prep to Year 12.
With so many pressures upon the next generation, in all its many forms, it’s often difficult to make sense of the world. Craig is someone who believes in the best of others and wants to see them succeed. Craig is also a key person involved in the Shed Ministry offered by the Redlands Lutheran Parish.
Youth Ministry Co-Ordinator - Sarah Day
Sarah Day runs a Youth Group at Faith Lutheran College, Redlands. The groups are open to any youths in the Redlands not just students from Faith. It is aimed at keeping children off the street on a Friday night and to give them a structured and safe place to hangout. The groups get together, talk, play games with an aim to help develop confidence in themselves and respect for others in the group and then in the community. Some of the past group members have come back to volunteer and to act as leaders for the younger kids. They play games and during these times when the kids are relaxed they have the opportunity to be kids. If they need to talk they can also do that. It is not counselling, but an opportunity to just be around people who care and who will listen.
The Faith food bank is an initiative of the P&FA. It’s mission is to extend care and support to Faith families in need by providing homemade meals to those facing difficult circumstances. A small band of wonderful Faith parents provide the food bank with homemade meals which are kept frozen at the school, ready to be given to families at a moment’s notice.
If you would like to be a part of this ministry by donating your time and ingredients to make meals for our families at Faith please contact the food bank co-ordinator Liza Page on 0422 968 341 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
