Faith Lutheran College, Redlands Junior School is committed to providing an all-round education in a safe and supportive Christian environment. The Junior School curriculum is delivered in a stimulating environment with high expectations. The emphasis in the Junior School is on all children striving to achieve their potential within a rich and diverse approach built around the eight key learning areas and Christian Studies.
A well equipped computer laboratory and classrooms serviced by a network of computers provide both Internet and Intranet access to students who are taught keyboard, literacy and numeracy skills from an early age.
Specific programs are also provided for students with special needs.
The Prep Year is a special year where the curriculum is orgainised to provide the transition between a 'play' environment and the more formal demands of Year 1. All students attend pre-school on a full time basis.
The curriculum is organized around the 8 Key learning Areas of the Queensland Studies Authority. All students study the following curriculum areas:
• Studies of Society and Environment (SOSE)
• Health & Physical Education
• Japanese (Years 5 and 6)
In addition, students undertake Christian Studies using the Lutheran Education Australia syllabus, LIFE.
While the Junior School curriculum is broad, Literacy and Numeracy are particularly emphasised to enable all children to progress to the next stage of their school life.
